Unser Blog schließt 🙁

Nun ist unsere 6-monatige Reise wirklich zu Ende… Wir sind – nach Start in Singapur – wieder in München angekommen!

Wir haben sehr viel erlebt, wundervolle Erfahrungen und Eindrücke von der Welt und den Menschen in Asien und Europa gesammelt und vor allem viel Zeit als Familie verbracht. Natürlich konnten wir auf Grund von COVID-19 die Überlandstrecke von Singapur nach München nicht wir ursprünglich geplant durchführen. Aber nichtsdestotrotz sind wir unendlich froh, “das Beste” aus der 6-monatigen Auszeit gemacht zu haben – und vor allem gesund geblieben zu sein.

Wir schließen den Blog (siehe auch auf Instagram) mit einem Foto von unserer letzten Etappe in Ungarn und einem Blick aus dem fahrenden Zug – ein ganz ähnliches Foto, wie auf unserer ersten Etappe, als wir Singapur mit dem Zug nach Malaysia verlassen haben.

Bleibt gesund! Die nächste Reise kommt bestimmt! 🙂

Our blog is closing 🙁

Now our 6-month journey is really over… We finally arrived – after starting in Singapore – back in Munich!

We have experienced a lot, gained wonderful experiences and impressions of the world and the people in Asia and Europe and above all spent a lot of time as a family. Of course, due to COVID-19 we could not complete the overland route from Singapore to Munich as originally planned. But nevertheless, we are very happy to have made the best out of the 6 month break – and above all to have stayed healthy.

We’re closing the blog (see also on Instagram) with a photo from our last leg in Hungary and the view out of the moving train – a very similar photo to the one we took on our first leg when we left Singapore by train to Malaysia.

Stay healthy! The next journey will come for sure! 🙂

Deutsch / English In und um Chiang Mai In und um Chiang Mai gibt es so viel zu unternehmen und zu sehen, dass wir froh sind, nach unserem Besuch in der School for Life noch drei weitere Tage in der Innenstadt verbringen zu können. Nach dem „Morning Call“, bei dem sich alle Schüler für eine halbe Stunde auf dem Appellplatz versammeln und die thailändische Fahne hochgezogen wird, verabschieden wir uns von Kindern und Mitarbeitern und lassen uns im Tuktuk in die City chauffieren. Unser neues Heim, das 60 Blue House , ist ein gemütliches Hostel am südöstlichen Ende der historischen Altstadt, innerhalb der alten Stadtmauer gelegen. Im recht großen Doppelzimmer, in das für Titus eine dritte Matratze gelegt wurde, haben wir ausreichend Platz, und im Aufenthaltsbereich im Innenhof sitzen wir die meiste Zeit mehr oder weniger allein. Unser Zimmer hat auch eine kleine Küchenzeile, so dass wir uns zumindest beim Frühstück selbst versorgen können. Einziges Manko: Hier herrscht akuter Moskito-Ala...

Trains and Buses in Europe

Our Trip In Europe, most people use their own car for traveling from one country to another. Thanks to “Autobahn” this is often named as the fastest option. But for the very first time, we tried to travel from Germany to Austria, Slovakia and Hungary by train. It wasn’t as convenient as the speed trains in China, but a very good travel option if you want to avoid traffic jams and travel in a climate-friendly way. Just make sure that your accomodation is in walking distance of either the train station or close to a metro/bus station. Outside of cities, bus connections are poor, and taxis cost a fortune. Railway tickets can be pretty expensive though, we highly recommend to book a couple of days in advance. Especially during weekdays there are plenty of offers for budget tickets (called “Saver Fare”, “Flexible Fare”or “Regional Offers”) at DB (Deutsche Bahn, German Railway).
